Mike

Zdravim priznivce trekovani a dlouhych walku.
Samozrejme se me to nechce jit samotnymu protoze jak je znamo : Happiness only real when shared.

There is a reasonably wide window of opportunity to walk Te Araroa. The major consideration is when you will be in the South Island high country and/or the Tararua Ranges just north of Wellington – these are the areas most likely to be susceptible to harsh weather.

If heading southbound, a September-December start is generally when people commence – January would be possible if you’re a swift traveller, you probably wouldn’t want to risk being in the South Island much later than mid April.

If starting early in that window expect plenty of spring rain in the early stages – and also pay close attention to a number of tracks that have seasonal closures for lambing August-October.

If you wanted to head northbound, November-January starts have been done before.
